AUSTRALIAN MADE Natural Solid Queensland Boulder Opal & Sterling Silver Pendant This is a handmade pendant, incorporating a natural, cut and polished Boulder Opal from Queensland set in solid sterling silver stamped 925 on the bail. The stone is a freeform teardrop shape with areas of translucent purple opal with a few small flashes of bright green, blue and purple. Approximate dimensions are 32x16mm, and weight is 15.2ct. The overall size of the pendant is approximately 46x17mm. Weight of pendant is approximately 5g. Only found in Western Queensland, Boulder Opal formed millions of years ago in seams within ironstone or sandstone boulders where silica rich water seeped down into cracks and crevices and over time formed opal. Only a rare few will exhibit the amazing patterns and vibrant colours associated with this type of opal. Photographs have been taken in various lighting conditions. Dimensions are approximate.
